(Food) Wild Honey @ Scotts Square
Friday, June 28, 2013 My first visit to Wild Honey. Was there on a Friday night and the place was full house. The food was ok - not fantastic. The ambience was really good. Price wise... I find it to be on the rather steep side for the kind of food that was served. The service was good with well mannered staff who are full of smiles. The food took super long to come. What made up for it was when we asked the staff to check on our orders a few times (because it was really a very very long wait), they were really courteous and in bright smiles. The manager came to apologise and said that the food produced by the kitchen was rejected by himself because it didn't look good (i.e. failed QC at his end) and he had to make them redo it. The customer service part really did make up for the otherwise pent up frustration accumulated due to a hungry stomach.
Grateful to the service for not spoiling my mood on a Friday night when I declare an end to my very intensive week. Wild Honey Scotts Square, #03-02 Singapore 228209

[Seoul][Food] 새마을식당 New Maul Restaurant
Friday, June 7, 2013 I went there once a week while I was there and I already knew how much I would miss this place, each time I was there. This is a chained BBQ business but I've only visited 2 of its branches. One at Jamsil (which I went once) and the rest of the times, I visited the Hongdae Branch (because it is so convenient). I just went to their website to take a look and it seems like they have 2 overseas branches - one in Tokyo and the other one in Qingdao. The number of New Maul Restaurant chains located in korea are listed on its website across 10 pages. What's good about this place is that it is very affordable and they are pretty generous with their servings. Other than that , they used charcoal for your BBQ instead of electric BBQ. They are famous for their 열탄불고기 BBQ Bulgogi, 돼지김치 pork and kimchi - and they are highlighted in red on the menu. The branch at Hongdae has menu in chinese too. The BBQ Bulgogi is slightly spicy and sweet and comes in thin slices. This is 2 servings (KRW8,000 per serving): The 7minute Pork and Kimchi is a must-order for foreigners who have never tried this before. I really thought the taste was so goood that I want to introduce it to all my friends. and so far, everybody whom I've brought there commented that this is really good and unique: What is special about this dish is the way you eat it. Take a few spoon of this dish + seaweed and mix it with your rice. If you don't have seaweed (that comes in a metal tin as seen in the picture), ask for it. Your rice bowl should eventuall looks like this after mixing: The amount of Pork Kimchi and seaweed to add will depend on your own preference. I like to eat it with alot of seaweed. Usually, you can share one serving of Pork Kimchi with 2 - 3 people. The one I went to (address above) is nearest to the train station. But the other 2 are located not too far away too. Directions: I have always taken the route in red. But now that I look at the map, seems like you can exit via Exit 8 too. Anyway, I have always exited via Exit 9. you will see KFC on your left upon exit. Go towards KFC direction and turn left on the 2nd crossroad. Go straight till you see the round-about. The New Maul is just diagonally across. 12 March 2013: first time meeting unyoung unnie in Seoul! She brought me to the Jamsil place. 19 March 2013: Saki's Birthday with school mates 30 March 2013: Brought my friends there on their last night in Seoul. 5 April 2013: final time there - brought YX xiaodi there.
